My involvement in the Marine Industry grew out of my love for MotorSports. While watching a radio-controlled sailboat on the Hyde Park Lake, London, England a Swiss friend who raced boats asked, “What do you think about Working on Boats”? “Well, they also go Broomm Broomm”, was my reply. On the 25th day of September 1975 I arrived on Lake Como at Tullio Abbate's BoatWorks in Tremezzo, Italy. This gave me the opportunity to Eat, Sleep, Work and Learn from this boat building family who originated back in 1875. This is where I learned what made a boat work and why, since many experiments were attempted, including the Ferrari factory authorized marinization of the BB512 with twin installation in a 36-foot OffShore. While back in Miami, Florida I formed Abbate Nautica USA, Inc. for importing Abbate Boats. A 36-OffShore was shown at the 1979 Miami International Boat Show. Abbate Nautica USA, Inc. also showed at the Chicago Trade Show, etc.
Because of my many years of business relations with the premier American Marine Manufactures and Suppliers, the Italian Class 1/Open, Teams who were participating in the World, European, and Italian Championships came to Yankee Nautica for their racing supplies. During the full time involvement with Teams, even being employed directly with them, the Retail operations of Yankee Nautica was closed to concentrate on the Wholesale sales and services. Being associated with Ing. Edoardo Polli's Team was the pinnacle of OffShore Racing with 3-Class 1 race boats with 45-full time employees with the World Champion Steve Curtis Throttling one of them. During the same time period I raced in different races in Mono Hulls and Catamarans with Diesel and Lamborghini Power for my customers. After my return to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 1995, thru my Real Estate contacts as a Florida Licensee, I was to work with the owner of Florida Marine for his real estate concerns. This grew into setting up the parts room for Florida Marine and the Palm Beach Boat Shows graduating to yard manager. This gave me the experience, and contacts needed to work with the Owners and Captions of Mega Yachts, since we were able haul up to 125 feet and 160 Tons. To stay ahead of the Marine paradigm, I have brought to America, Yankee Nautica. With my European and American Marine knowledge and experiences, I am well equipped to serve the Yacht Charter Industry. Having worked with those who had 7,000+ employees, or those whose factories worked 24-7-365, I was able to experience what real Wealth means and what necessities this wealth can create.
